A Note From Rabbi Katz

Dear Friends,

I love Israel for many reasons: The feel of Jerusalem stone, the overwhelmingly bright sunlight on the road down to Masada and the Dead Sea, and the smells that come from Hallah bakeries starting Thursday night. Seeing Hebrew on signs advertising chocolate bars and hearing it used by parents and kids in the park, and knowing that the language I struggled to master in Hebrew School is used to run a modern country.

Most of all, I love the people of Israel- their passion, their attachment to the land, their commitment to family, and the proud way they welcome guests to their homes and country.

This love of Israel is what I hope to share with you next summer. If you have never been to Israel, I hope that you will join me so that you can develop your own relationship to the country. If you have been there before, I hope that I can show you some things off the beaten track....my Israel.

Tammy Brass and I are working with our tour providers to create a trip that reflects the values of CSAIR and will give you the chance to experience Israel in a special way. We will explore the complicated reality of Israel's present and its amazing history. We will see and do a lot. And we will have FUN!

Looking forward to seeing you on that El Al plane in August....

-Rabbi Katz
